Yes, my Human Rights professor, also director of the terrorism and counterterrorism program at Human Rights Watch (so, pretty big deal), used the term “gender confusion” to refer to trans/GNC people.

Yes, my Latina women professor, who claims to be a queer theorist and anthropologist, used the term hermaphrodite. I actually spoke to her after class and although she apparently realized what she had said when she said it and felt super embarrassed, she never expressed this to the class. The class is made up of about 40 students, almost all of which admitted to having no prior teachings of any sort of gender/queer theory. My professor knew she was wrong, yet used the term and did not explain herself after, therefore giving the class the impression that this outdated and offensive term is okay to use.
These so-called progressive programs I involve myself in are proving otherwise and it’s KILLIN ME YA’LL. WHAT’S UP WITH THIS HUNTER?!
